    Job Overview:

    We are looking for a Software Engineer/Database Developer to join our growing Engineering team and design and automate a robust web-based financial system to manage FAA spend plans. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with significant experience in developing scalable data applications and platforms. We’re looking for someone with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products who can understand the applications including end-to-end flow from the system and user perspective. They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big database technologies and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets with multiple interfaces between databases and database tools. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision, adhering to application development best practices. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development.

     

     Job Description:

    • Develop end-to-end software and data base applications that integrate with existing FAA legacy systems, using an agile development methodology.
    • Enforce appropriate security measure in the application.
    • Research and determine applicable design methodologies, implementation technologies and testing approach.
    • Negotiate priorities and manage expectations during a development, test and implementation cycle.
    • Participate in daily team meetings and conversations to understand business and technical requirements.
    • Recommend viable alternative solutions to requirements and devise alternate courses of actions for problems encountered.
    • Manage a myriad of ongoing tasks in a high operational tempo environment, using best judgment and prioritizing workload to meet expectations with quality products on time.   Manage multiple configurations and provide real time reporting of baselined packages and updates. 
    • Promote and foster communication, establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with a wide range of team members, stakeholders, and representatives from other functional disciplines.
    • Must be able to work independently while understanding the need for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 2 years of software development / design experience required. 
    • Demonstrated understanding of database design structure for applications and object-oriented development.
    • Strong experience with Oracle
    • Strong development experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and an object-oriented programming language
    • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
    • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
