    MAR Division of Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for Technician to produce fiber optic cables for acoustic systems.

     

    LOCATION: San Diego, CA

    EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Must have at least one (1) year of producing Kevlar-reinforced fiberoptic cabling

    EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.

    CERTIFICATIONS AND TOOLS: N/A

    SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

    JOB STATUS: Full-Time - Office, lab, and shipboard work.   Contingent upon contract award.

    TRAVEL: N/A

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Functionally, the successful candidate will:

     

    Provide technical inputs for acoustic system design. Fabricate cable assemblies using government approved engineering specifications and fabrication drawings.  Cable assemblies shall pass testing and function according to design. Deliver the fabricated cable assemblies to SSC Pacific per government schedule. This work shall include the following:

    • Reading electronic schematics and mechanical fabrication assembly drawings
    • Cable harnesses and cable harness fabrication methods and tools
    • Mechanical fabrication and assembly of the sensing node
    • Inspection, precision winding and packaging of (Burnham .055” and .038” dia.) jacketed fiber optic cable packs.

     

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: This candidate must have experience with the following:

    • Minimum of one year of experience producing Kevlar-reinforced fiberoptic cabling, including:
      • Using Burnham manufactured .055 and .038 fiber.
      • Cable pack winding
      • Inspection
    • Two years of experience with ocean deployed vehicles and sensors, desired.
    • Experience with autonomous maritime systems, desired.
